Preventing Child Trafficking | Supporting Survivors | Empowering Communities

The Child Trafficking Solutions Project (CTSP), an initiative of the Children's Aid Society of Alabama (CAS), is dedicated to combating child trafficking through comprehensive strategies focused on prevention, recognition, and response. Established in 2016 and integrated into CAS in 2022, CTSP operates as a statewide coalition collaborating with law enforcement, government agencies, non-profits, child protective services, and survivor support organizations.

Mission and Objectives

CTSP’s mission is to:

  • Improve outcomes for survivors of child trafficking.

  • Ensure perpetrators are prosecuted effectively.

  • Mobilize communities to prevent trafficking, raise awareness, and enhance safety.

To achieve these goals, CTSP focuses on:

  • Developing standardized response protocols for law enforcement, child protective services, healthcare providers, educators, and advocacy organizations.

  • Providing comprehensive training and resources for professionals and community members to recognize and respond to trafficking risks.

  • Enhancing trauma-informed support services, including secure housing, healthcare, education, and legal assistance.

  • Advocating for stronger policies and legislation to improve prevention, prosecution, and survivor support efforts.

Key Initiatives and Impact

  • Comprehensive Training: CTSP offers specialized training for law enforcement and tailored programs for professionals and community members, equipping them with the knowledge to prevent, recognize, and respond to child trafficking.

  • Trafficking-Free Zones: Through community outreach and education, CTSP has helped establish Trafficking-Free Zones (TFZs) across Alabama, creating safer environments for vulnerable populations.

  • Community Engagement: CTSP works with municipalities to improve identification, rescue, treatment, and long-term support for trafficking victims, fostering safer communities statewide.
